Probationary Period

A period of time (typically 6-12 months) in which a firefighter becomes familiar and proficient with standard procedures in the department.  “Probies” spend their time learning as much as they can about fire apparatus, maintenance, and communications within the department.  A Probationary Firefighter is sometimes referred to as a PFF.  See also:
